Since 1911, PowerLabs has been the primary calibrations and testing laboratory for Exelon. We have four individual labs strategically located from the upper-midwest to the northeast, enabling our experienced staff of experts in engineering, metrology, and nuclear power generation to support the urgent demands of our nation’s nuclear facilities, power grids, and critical supply chains. As an Approved Nuclear Supplier, we have amassed an extensive inventory of lab equipment to perform a full- spectrum of calibration, testing, and analysis services. We also maintain A2LA Accreditation, assuring our technical competence as a laboratory to ISO 17025 standards and extending our services to any quality-driven or highly regulated industry.
Calibrations – We perform both standard and ISO 17025 calibrations. Our capabilities compliment the requirements of any quality-driven organization. We help you meet and exceed your quality requirements with consistent and accurate measurements every time. Whether you would like us to calibrate it in-house or onsite, we will work to give you the best experience. Our team of highly skilled experts deliver consistent and accurate calibrations.
High Voltage Calibrations – We have one the of the widest scopes of accredited calibrations in the high voltage industry. Not only can we meet ISO 17025 accredited calibrations, but we also meet requirements that satisfy national and international high voltage standards: ISO 17025, IEEE Standard 4, IEC 60060-2, IEC 60270, ANSI Z540, 10 CFR 50 / Appendix B.
Failure Analysis – We help identify the root cause of a failed component. Our team of highly skilled experts deliver consistent and accurate calibrations. Our metrology leaders are renowned across the industry for their thought-provoking mentality and deep understanding of metrological science. Each of our technicians dedicate time to expanding their knowledge in other disciplines to advance their potential. Empowering our team to guide our calibration policies and procedures enables them to see potential problems with your equipment and develop solutions faster.
Parts Quality Testing (PQI) – Our labs test functional parts and identify failed parts before entering inventory. In 2006, Constellation PowerLabs’ PQI program was founded to safeguard against downtime due to critical parts failure. PowerLabs uses historic model-specific failure data trends to identify which parts to PQI test. PQI data and testing ensures defective parts are identified before installation, reducing downtime, labor and logistics costs, and yielding substantial warranty replacement savings. PowerLabs is committed to working with manufacturers with high-failure rate parts to provide data and recommendations to solve the root cause of failure in manufacturing. For example, one vendor routinely had 40% failure rates on a tested part. PowerLabs identified the failure and worked with the vendor to modify the part, resulting in a failure rate of less than 3%.
Commercial Grade Dedication Testing – We test plant safety-related components. Commercial Grade Dedication Testing (CGD) is a process of performing inspections, tests, or analyses on commercial grade components that will be dedicated for use in a nuclear safety-related application. We test over 12,000 items annually, verifying they meet or exceed the critical characteristic requirements determined by the engineer’s dedication plan for the use in a nuclear facility. Our comprehensive Appendix B program includes concise documentation of our test results and provides you with the most reliable cost-saving alternative to OEM replacements.
