USA supplier DevonWay Inc., a leading provider of enterprise cloud applications for the high-reliability process industry, is pleased to announce that the LabWay project with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Idaho National laboratory (INL) was awarded “Project of the Year” at the National Laboratories Information Technology (NLIT) Summit’s annual conference in San Francisco.

The purpose of the LabWay project was to enhance the INL’s ability to learn from unplanned events and self-assessments via the rigorous use of causal analysis, corrective action development and implementation, extent of condition and common causes, effectiveness reviews, and the sharing of lessons learned/operating experiences. The result of the project was the implementation of DevonWay’s laboratory-wide, highly integrated, mission enabling Operational Performance Management System –LabWay.

“In collaboration with INL, the DevonWay team applied its resources, knowledge and expertise gained from the application of our next-generation software platform from private sector nuclear plant, fossil, and engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) operations to the national laboratory setting” said Rob Trounce, President and CEO of DevonWay. “The result was the implementation of LabWay – a suite of DevonWay applications that simplifies the end-user experience, promotes employee engagement, removes data silos, integrates with existing systems of record, and removes barriers to continuous performance improvement.”

“Our focus at INL was to solve real business problems that were impacting  operational improvements at the laboratory,” said Robert Miklos, Director, Business Materials and Fuels Complex, Idaho National Laboratory. “We needed an intelligent platform with a vision and capability to integrate and expand our multiple disparate solutions as well as provide us with actionable analytics.”

“LabWay helps our managers be engaged, not just informed, promoting a culture that finds problems before they find us,” said Admiral Art Clark, Deputy Laboratory Director. “We needed a lab-wide tool to help us trend and analyze with timely information so we could make informed management decisions.”

“DevonWay’s intelligent business platform provides powerful ways to access and augment systems of record to supply operational intelligence unavailable in legacy systems. This modern user web experience is available on any browser device or mobile phone,” said Chris Moustakas, EVP & COO, DevonWay. “As with LabWay, all DevonWay customers get the benefit of meaningful business analytics that track, trend and send alerts to keep individuals aware of changing departmental conditions in real time.”

Inspired by the NLIT award, DevonWay is creating a Continuous Improvement Project of the Year competition at Ci7, the Continuous Improvement Conference in San Diego, February 9-12, 2015. Visit www.devonway.com for conference details.
