Susquehanna Station’s Chief Nuclear Officer Tim Rausch received the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) Annual Assessment Letter for Units 1 and 2 Wednesday, Feb. 28.

The NRC deems the performance of Susquehanna Units 1 and 2 during the most recent quarter to be within the Licensee Response Column, the highest performance category of the NRC’s Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) Action Matrix (Unit 2 is shown to the right), as a result of all inspection findings having very low safety significance.

“On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, I’d like to extend my thanks to every member of Team Susquehanna for their ability to improve their personal performance, which translates into improved performance at the Station,” said Tim, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of the Utilities Service Alliance (USA). “We have come through adversity and extraordinary challenges over the course of the past several years. We learned, we responded and we have improved. I am very proud of this organization and want you to know that.”

The letter also went on to say that all performance indicators were within the expected range – therefore, the NRC plans to conduct ROP baseline inspections at Susquehanna this year and provided a list of dates for inspections, which will take place between the start of 2018 and the end of 2019.
