USA fleet member PSEG Nuclear has extended, through 2022, the contract signed with USA supplier AREVA Inc. for outage and maintenance activities at the Salem and Hope Creek Generating Stations.

As an extension of the contract signed in July 2013, AREVA will continue to provide its technical support to PSEG’s pressurized and boiling water reactors through refueling, inspections and steam generator services. This contract reinforces AREVA’s position as a service supplier in the boiling water reactor market.

Located on the same site, PSEG Nuclear’s Salem and Hope Creek Generating Stations comprise the second largest commercial nuclear facility in the United States. Together, the three units generate enough electricity to power approximately three million homes each day.

“AREVA Inc. has successfully worked with PSEG Nuclear for many years, and we will continue to provide them with the same high-quality safety, performance and delivery,” said Tom Franch, senior vice president, Reactors and Services at AREVA Inc. “We are committed to working with our customers in identifying solutions to meet their needs for continuously improving the safety and reliability of their operations.”

“We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with AREVA,” explained Bob Braun, senior vice president and chief operating officer for PSEG Nuclear. “This extension will further support our refueling outage efforts and the work of our dedicated employees.”
