The Utilities Service Alliance (USA) has named Randy Ebright as the fleet’s Fukushima Response Director. He replaces Scott Northard who returns to Xcel Energy as a General Manager of Fleet Operations. In addition to his new role, Ebright will remain as DC Cook’s USA Management Council Representative and provide support to the USA Training and Engineering Core Peer Teams (CPTs).

“Having been a part of the USA Fukushima Project Team from it’s beginning, I have seen the team very quickly develop into a productive and supportive team,” said Ebright. “The sharing of information, data and expertise has helped each of the USA member sites in completing several response actions with high quality. I look forward to working with the team as we continue with implementing the remaining actions from our response plans. Over the next few years we will make physical modifications to our sites, perform additional analysis, conduct training and put in place actions, and procedures to ensure that our sites can effectively respond to a beyond design bases natural disaster or event.”

Ebright has over 35 years of broad nuclear experience in Operations, Engineering, Maintenance and Training. He most recently was the DC Cook Industry Affairs Liaison. Previous assignments at DC Cook include Engineering Director, Training Manager, Mechanical Maintenance Manager, Maintenance and Technical Training Manager and Engineering Programs Manager. He began his career serving in the United States Navy Nuclear Power Program.

He has also held a NRC Senior Reactor Operators License as well as a Reactor Operators License and has been a SRO Certified Training Instructor. Ebright He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology from Thomas Edison State College and has attended the AEP Strategic Leadership Program at The Ohio State University – Fisher College of Business. Ebright is active in supporting several college engineering programs and is often a guest lecturer at several schools including Perdue, Holy Cross, Notre Dame and Andrews University promoting both nuclear power and new engineer development. In addition, he is an adjunct instructor in the Energy Production Program at Lake Michigan College.
