USA Supply Chain Winter Conference
Each year in January, the USA Supply Chain Management Team hosts a Winter Conference for its Members and Supplier-Partners. We seek a unique and beautiful venue where participants can get away from the day to day grind to focus on strategy, collaboration and plans for the coming year to maximize the mutual benefits available through Fleet participation and partnership. The Conference is unique in that in addition to outstanding informational presentations and networking opportunities, a significant part of the agenda is devoted to face-to-face meetings between utility members and suppliers. The intent of these break-out sessions is to provide focused time to discuss successes and opportunities to grow the relationships and maximize the benefits offered by USA Fleet Agreements with our world-class Supplier-Partners.
2020 Winter Conference
Our 17th Annual Winter Conference returns to sunny Clearwater Beach, Florida. In addition to a venue that was rated as “Excellent” by 95% of respondents to our 2018 conference survey, we’ll feature an outstanding schedule including meetings of the USA Procurement Engineering, Site Representative and Supply Chain peer teams as well as private supplier presentations to key site stakeholders and our always popular slate of “speed-dating“ meetings between suppliers and utility representatives to discuss agreement status and ways to grow relationships and enhance the benefit enjoyed by all participants. We’ll also have several engaging presentations during the General Session designed to inform and equip attendees on current industry issues as well as plans and goals for the new year.
The week will kick off on Monday with our traditional golf outing for those interested in participating. Our 2020 USA Winter Conference is sure to be a valuable and worthwhile experience and we look forward to seeing you in Clearwater!
2019 Winter Conference
The 2019 Winter Conference kicked off Monday afternoon with attendees and guests enjoying our traditional golf outing in perfect Arizona weather. Tuesday brought meetings of the Supply Chain, Procurement Engineering and Site Rep. teams, as well as technical presentations by our Supplier-Partners designed to provide a road map of value for 2019.
The day concluded with a wonderful welcome reception where all attendees and guests could relax, enjoy great food and drink, catch up with old friends and meet new ones all while having our minds read by an amazing mentalist who was able to conjure up facts from our past that no one else knew! The next two days were packed full of presentations on a wide variety of topics including updates from EPRI, STARS, Southern Nuclear and USA, advice for navigating O&M costs in an unpredictable market, reducing supply chain risk and much more. The Conference also included nearly 200 individual breakout sessions (“speed-dates”) between utilities and suppliers, always a key ingredient and an extremely popular part of the proceedings.
Last, but certainly not least, Lisa Rudlaff, Twila Janeway and Heather Qin accepted the coveted 2018 SuperSaver award on behalf of Team Cook (AEP) based on their savings in excess of $7.5M using USA Supply Chain programs! Overall, members saved more than $31 Million in 2018 through the hard work of our suppliers and utility representatives throughout the member organizations. Our best year ever- Well Done!
We wrapped things up Friday Morning with a fascinating tour of the SAFER Regional Response Center courtesy of our good friends at Southern Nuclear and PIM. Attendees were able to see the extensive array of equipment and preparations in place and available immediately should an emergency arise.
The pictures below will give you a small taste of what the attendees enjoyed in Scottsdale. 97% of survey respondents rated the Conference as “Excellent” or “Good” and 89% said they plan to attend in 2020. We’ll go back to our all-time most popular venue in Clearwater Beach, Florida and look forward to seeing you there!
