The USA board of directors unanimously approved changes recently to the fleet’s Governance, Oversight, Support and Perform (GOSP) model. The changes will take effect January 1, 2016.

“These changes are designed to improve alignment with INPO and provide stronger oversight of improvement activities for the USA fleet and its members,” explained USA Board Chairman Tim Rausch, senior vice president and chief nuclear officer for PPL Susquehanna.

As part of the changes, a new USA staff position will be created called the director performance sustainability (DPS). This position will be closely aligned with the INPO performance monitoring leader (PML) position. In addition, the position will be responsible for integrating and working with INPO to assist in identifying station and fleet trends that may impact excellent operations.

Also under the approved change, John Christensen, USA VP – Operational Performance will take on responsibility to coordinate USA fleet support for any stations that are in the INPO Recovery or Escalate categories. This will include working with INPO PRLs/PMLs and station recovery managers to facilitate fleet support in the required functional and leadership areas.

According to USA President and CEO Carl Parry, the board also approved other changes to the GOSP model. The most significant change is the creation of a USA site rep at each fleet member. This role will be a combination of the roles of the Management Council rep and a corporate functional area manager (CFAM). These positions will be referred to as CFAMs with the selected individuals serving as technical experts and leaders in their designated area. More information on the GOSP changes will be communicated over the next several months.
