For the fifth straight time, USA fleet member Cook Plant’s Initial License Training Class received a 100% pass rate on the NRC exam — something all of us can be extremely proud of. It was a point well-noted by Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer Larry Weber at a dinner honoring the 16 newly-licensed operators recently.

“We’re looking at the future of the nuclear industry right here in this room,” Weber said. “And with the history of success we’ve had with this program, I’d say our future is in excellent hands. Thank you for your hard work and congratulations on a job well done.”

Also speaking to the honorees and guests was Cindy Pederson, NRC Regional Administrator, Region III who reminded the group of the awesome responsibility that comes with their new license.

“You must never forget that with every decision you make, you hold the trust and confidence of not only your local public but of a world-wide industry,” she said. “That is something you can never take lightly.”

As with past classes, this group of current licensees represents the best in our industry, and will certainly help to strengthen our focus on being an Operations-led organization. Congratulations to all!
