The 2011 USA Suppliers of the Year were named at the USA’s 18th Annual Executive Summit, held in Colorado Springs, CO. AP Services was named the Material Supplier of the Year for the third year in a row, and PKMJ Technical Services was named Services Supplier of the Year for the second year in a row. Suppliers are chosen for this prestigious award by representatives from the eight USA member utilities and the seven STARS member utilities, who rank USA/STARS suppliers based on several factors, including quality of products and services, continuous improvement, and realized savings.

AP Services provides Fluid Leak Management (FLM) products and services, and has brought much value to the Alliance through their FLM program and involvement in the FLM users group. Recently, AP Services has introduced their new web-based software, SealPRO™. SealPRO™ is a valve-packing database and fluid leak management program that is able to design and manage configurations, track leaks and valve repair, and uses a system of FUTURE, INSTALLED, and HISTORY statuses to accurately maintain a standard revision process flow.

PKMJ is an engineering firm best known for their Proactive Obsolescence Management Software (POMS). Over the years PKMJ has developed other software and processes to help manage plant equipment and parts, including the software applications Preventative Maintenance (PM) Forecast and Configuration Management Interface System (CMIS). PKMJ can also complete critical spares analyses and inventory optimization analyses, among other analyses. Recently, PKMJ has pulled several parts of their offering together to create the Integrated Strategic Supply Chain program, which is designed to assess and optimize demand, inventory, and supply.

According to Daniel Dale, USA Manager-Supply Chain, “It really is no small feat to win this award multiple times. There are many inputs into this award, from multiple plants and multiple personnel. The suppliers who do win are the ones with the feet on the ground, in the plants, helping them solve their problems.” Both suppliers have exhibited a commitment to USA’s mission, “working together for mutual success,” and USA was as proud to present these awards as the suppliers were to receive them.
