The Utilities Service Alliance (USA) Board of Directors announced the reappointment today of Tim Rausch as the board vice chairman. Rausch will serve a second two year term for the fleet.

“It is an honor to be reappointed and continue in a key leadership role with the USA fleet,” said Rausch. “Working with the other members, we will continue our efforts as USA plays a bigger and bigger role within the nuclear industry.”

Rausch serves PPL Generation’s senior vice president and chief nuclear officer with responsibility for the Susquehanna nuclear power plant, a two-unit, 2,630-megawatt facility located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Rausch joined PPL in July 2009 after 25 years of experience in virtually every discipline within the commercial nuclear power industry.

He began his nuclear career with GPU Nuclear Corp. as an operator training instructor at the Oyster Creek plant in New Jersey. After moving to the Perry nuclear plant in northeastern Ohio, Rausch served as emergency operations procedures coordinator, as supervisor of operations, as training manager, as quality director, as director of engineering and as director of maintenance before being named the Perry plant’s general manager in 2002.

In 2004, he accepted a position with Exelon Nuclear Corp. as engineering director for the company’s fleet of 17 nuclear units. In 2006, he was named site vice president of Exelon’s Oyster Creek plant.

Actively involved on the national nuclear industry stage, Rausch currently serves as the chairman of the Electric Power Research Institute’s (EPRI) Fuel Reliability Committee, is a member of the Nuclear Energy Institute’s (NEI) national Fukushima Steering Committee and is vice chairman of the Utilities Service Alliance (USA) Board of Directors.

Rausch is a native of Ohio and earned his bachelor of science degree in nuclear engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He received his master’s degree in business administration from Cleveland State University. He currently serves as an advisory board member of Pennsylvania State University’s Nuclear Engineering program.
