USA’s Advanced Remote Monitoring & Diagnostics Services Project (ARM) represents a one-of-a-kind industry initiative. In partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, ARM helps reduce power plants’ operating costs through the application of advanced technologies.

As part of the project’s three-year mission, Luminant’s Power Optimization Center (POC), recently announced the successful implementation of full-scale 24×7 monitoring services in support of Energy Northwest’s Columbia Generating Station. POC services include the monitoring of critical equipment and overall process efficiencies with the goal of improving plant reliability and performance. Congratulations to the project teams at both Columbia and Luminant for reaching this important milestone!

Going forward, project teams continue to work alongside national laboratories, academic researchers, and leading technologists to research, develop, and deploy advanced monitoring solutions across their facilities. This will enable automation of data collection, analytics, and anomalies detection through intelligent machine learning algorithms.

USA is also working to expand ARM’s scope, scale, and member participation through a PHASE-2 initiative. PHASE-2 includes submitting a second grant application to DOE later this year, further enabling industry innovation and technological transformation.
