Luminant’s Clint Carter, who currently serves as Director, Advanced Monitoring & Diagnostic Services, has been selected by the Utilities Service Alliance (USA) Board of Directors to serve as its new Director – Fleet Modernization.

As a result of the USDOE funding award announced just weeks ago, the position of Director – Fleet Modernization – a three-year rotational assignment – was developed by USA to work directly with DOE staff and USA’s Advanced Remote Monitoring (ARM) team members to ensure successful implementation of the five ARM pilot projects.

In this role, Clint will report to John Christensen, USA’s President & CEO and oversee all USA member and DOE interface activities for the ARM project.  Clint will facilitate and coordinate successful implementation of the project and all related milestones and deliverables.

“We’re excited to have Clint serve the USA Fleet in this critical position,” said John.  “Clint understands Remote Monitoring as well as anyone in our industry, and we are lucky to have him help us with this effort moving forward.  His experience and leadership fit perfectly with our needs at this exciting junction in USA’s life, and the work he does will have a lasting impact on our members for years to come.”

“This position is an exact match to the experience and knowledge I’ve gained while directing activities at the Luminant Power Optimization Center (POC),” said Clint.  “This experience has put me in a solid position to provide this same leadership to our USA member stations.  We want to develop and advance a technology that will allow the U.S. nuclear fleet to run safely, reliably and cost effectively, for years to come.”

“I am confident that the experience and leadership Clint will bring to this new, important role will be a real bonus to the USA fleet,” said Luminant’s Vice President Generation Services, Dale Higginbotham.  “Clint’s years at Luminant’s POC make him uniquely qualified to help other USA stations improve and sustain high levels of performance.”

With a nuclear career that has spanned 35 years, Clint has a vast array of experience in Engineering, Operations and Management.  Clint has a BSNE from Kansas State University, a MS from the University of North Texas, and an MBA from TCU.  He also holds a PE license and was a USNRC Licensed Senior Reactor Operator.
