What is the sum of one day plus 16 different school districts, 17 math trials and more than 400 students? The answer: the Salem County Math Showcase and some stiff competition. This year marked the 14th annual event proudly sponsored by Utilities Service Alliance fleet member PSEG Nuclear.

The Math Showcase is an enthusiastically supported competition intended to encourage math studies and to recognize students for their learning accomplishments much like a spelling bee with equations. This year the area’s top math students flexed their brainpower to win one of three top achievement awards totaling $3500.

Not only does PSEG Nuclear lend financial resources to fuel math education in the surrounding community, more than 50 employees volunteer to make the event possible. In addition, PSEG Nuclear President & Chief Nuclear Officer Tom Joyce serves as this year’s executive sponsor.

Students throughout the community participate in a variety of games and activities designed to make math fun.
