Scott Northard, Utilities Services Alliance (USA) project director for Fukushima response, recently participated on the INPO Emergency Response Review Visit (ERRV) at Entergy’s Arkansas Nuclear One (ANO) in Russellville, Ark.
Northard served as an industry peer on the seven-member INPO ERRV team which reviewed the status of the utility’s response to the recommendations from the four INPO Level 1 Fukushima IERs issued in 2011 and 2012.
The visit included a two-day team sequester in Atlanta to prepare for the trip and four days at the ANO plant during the week of Jan. 28.
The onsite work included plant walk-downs, procedure and document reviews and interviews with plant staff and management.
“It was a great opportunity to see how Entergy and ANO are implementing their responses to the Fukushima event, providing a benchmarking opportunity for USA, while helping INPO complete their role in assessing the status of the IER recommendations,” Northard said.
Northard was also able to provide valuable insights to Hope Creek, another USA plant, as they prepare for their upcoming INPO ERRV later this month.
