The Utilities Services Alliance (USA) has developed a standardized list of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that provides a common platform for measuring and trending performance of the stations in the USA fleet. Working together, members of USA reviewed each station’s KPIs to develop a comprehensive list of 200 indicators to measure performance in 11 functional areas. These functional areas consist of chemistry, emergency planning, engineering, industrial safety, maintenance, operations, outage, performance improvement, radiation protection, security and training.

The KPIs mirror those of INPO, NRC and others commonly used at nuclear plants across the industry. The remaining site-specific KPIs are being identified by a team of site representatives so that a plan can be developed to integrate them into an all-inclusive suite of KPIs.

The integration of the KPIs into one system will gain business and technical efficiencies and alignment across the USA fleet. A standard list of KPIs provides the following benefits:
• Identical indicators to compare criteria against one another and improve performance
• Avoiding duplicate entries into separate software programs
• Savings of maintenance costs for software programs

These indicators were input into the DevonWay software program to provide a more user-friendly tool and to automate the tracking process. The KPI library available on DevonWay can be used by all stations and provides a significant cost savings to USA team members.
