WCS provides the U.S. nuclear industry with the nation’s safest, most comprehensive and cost-effective treatment, storage and disposal options for radioactive and hazardous wastes. Owned by the State of Texas, the state-of-the-art Compact Waste Facility (CWF) provides disposal services for Texas Compact radioactive waste generators as well as Out of Compact generators in 34 other states. WCS has a fleet of Type A and Type B shipping casks to transport LLRW to the CWF and we also offer a safer and more cost-effective disposal option for Low Activity Waste (LAW) in our RCRA Subtitle C disposal facility. LAW disposed in this facility can contain up to ~10% of the Class A activity limits and have dose rates up to 100mR/hr@30cm.
