Four visitors from Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) visited USA fleet member PSEG Nuclear recently to present an informative and powerful presentation outlining firsthand accounts of the events at Fukushima Daiichi. While there, they participated in a tour of PSEG’s Hope Creek Generating Station.

The presentation included plant status of each unit leading up to the accident, the unimaginable working conditions following the events and the heroics of the employees that stayed to respond. Throughout the presentation, each speaker reinforced their commitment to sharing lessons learned; making nuclear power plants safer and carrying out decommission safely.

Manager of TEPCO Nuclear Power Programs, Kenji Tateiwa, said, “The support we received from your group and the industry was intangible. The sense that we had a big brother we could rely on meant so much to us.”

The PSEG Nuclear Fukushima Site Improvement Project Team concluded the presentation with an update on our site plans and actions in response to regulatory changes from Fukushima as well as the FLEX implementation timeline.
