The USA Drone, Robotic, and Submersible team has been in place for several months and are making some real progress through utilization of this equipment. Many plants have already been seeing early success and savings in not only money, but also dose reductions, time savings, and less risk to the plant and personnel. The Team is also working on ways for the members to share equipment and personnel for outage, non-outage, and emergent work activities.
This is an exciting team to be a part of. We have requested several suppliers to meet with us virtually during our monthly Teams calls to show us their products and capabilities for use at our members plants. This equipment is very sophisticated and can accommodate just about any environment or scenario to accomplish what would have been difficult and in some cases impossible for plant staff to accomplish. From crawling, diving, or flying through pipes, inspecting underwater circ water inlet bays, interior and exterior structures, thermal imaging, T&D inspections, or security threat detection there are so many options available to complete the job. When you are planning or contemplating work at your plant going forward make sure to reach out to your plants drone and robotic representative to see what options they have to reduce cost, time, dose, and improve safety.
To illustrate an example of member savings we asked USA supplier partner Curtiss Wright – Cyberhawk division to provide a write up of some recent success at one of our member plants. Click here to view the case study.
