The Utilities Service Alliance (USA) recently announced the election of John Christensen to Vice President – Operational Performance effective September 1, 2013. In his new position, he will become an officer of the company with fiduciary responsibilities and provide additional support to USA CEO Carl Parry with financial reviews and budgeting.

“John has been a true driving force behind the USA fleet the past few years,” said USA Board Chairman Tom Joyce. “His dedication and support have helped guide us towards excellence and we know he will be equally successful in his new leadership role.”

Christensen has 30 years of nuclear industry experience. He began his career with Duane Arnold where he held a variety of positions with increasing responsibilities in Engineering, Operations and Training. He also spent time as the Training Director for the Clinton Power Station as well as Manager of Midwest Nuclear Energy Services for General Physics Corporation.

Christensen then went on to work for Cooper Nuclear Station where he held a number of positions including Training Manager, Operations Manager, Plant Manager, Acting Site Vice President and General Manager – Support.

Christensen first joined USA in 2007 as the Manager of Strategic Sourcing. Two years later, he was named Director of Operational Performance where he oversaw the development and coordination of all operational improvement initiatives within USA.

“I am truly lucky to have had the opportunities that USA has offered me over the past six years,” said Christensen. “I am even more excited about what the future holds for our fleet. The transformation that has occurred the past few years has been phenomenal and the alignment and passion has never been better.”

Christensen was licensed as a Senior Reactor Operator while at Duane Arnold. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Iowa State University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Nova Southeastern University. He lives in Auburn, Nebraska with his wife Michelle and daughters Peyton and Cheyenne.
