Welcome to the new and revitalized Inside USA quarterly newsletter. As a part of our 2019 Excellence Plan, we have revamped our communications strategy in an effort to more frequently and systematically tell you all about what is happening “Inside USA.” Along with this new strategy we are rebooting our Executive Spotlight which will include brief updates from myself, Tim Donovan, and Jim Kitchens. Carl Parry started this spotlight years ago, but we slowly slipped away from it over the years. We will use this forum to communicate items that we see as vital to our USA members and maybe share some additional detail that you might not be aware of.
As we end 2018, we have plenty of things to be thankful for in our USA family. We successfully implemented our new Business Model (no small task) and streamlined our operations to reduce costs and burden on our members, all while increasing savings and value being delivered. We have had several new Board members join us this year, bringing new ideas and energy to the team. Our 2018 projects have shown great benefit to the members, including the savings of millions of dollars from your budgets, improved station performance in Operations and Training, and significantly reduced regulatory risk in the Cyber-security area. Our BOD has just approved some new projects for 2019 (discussed later in this edition) and we feel just as confidant that these will produce similar significant benefit. We have two new Project Leads for these from our member stations, John Tripoli from Susquehanna, and J.R. Trautvetter from Columbia. I’m excited to welcome them onto the USA team for 2019. We have also just completed an effort to file a funding request with the Department of Energy (DOE) to support implementation of Advanced Remote Monitoring at several of our member stations. Much more will be communicated on this over the next several months, but it has the potential to be a huge win for the USA team. While we have accomplished a great deal in 2018, we continue to look at new and more efficient ways to do business and bring value to our members. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Site Rep or any of the USA staff if you have ideas, suggestions, or complaints. We are only as good as our members involvement and engagement. Thank you all for your support and have a Happy Holidays!
